Tinworks Art is a non-profit art space in Bozeman, Montana. It is a place where contemporary art connects with the American West by weaving together its complex landscape, stories, experiences, and cultures. Tinworks makes possible art engagement in non-traditional spaces, enriching the cultural and social fabric of greater Bozeman and the Mountain West.
History
In the summer of 2019, Tinworks Art began as a “pop up” exhibit of contemporary visual and performing art. Seven artists, selected in Bozeman and around the country, exhibited works that transformed the two-acre fabrication and warehouse complex in Bozeman’s Northeast neighborhood into an immersive, art filled space. The exhibit, organized by local arts professionals and volunteers, opened to the community on weekends free of charge.
Over the next three summers, Tinworks showcased visual and performing artists from Montana and around the globe. Artists and visitors responded enthusiastically.
In 2022, inspired by the unique value of existing manufacturing buildings for creating and showcasing contemporary art, the Tinworks Art board initiated a national search for a Director to build and grow a sustainable, community-oriented, exceptional arts organization.
In March 2023, the board named Jenny Moore to be Tinworks Art’s founding Director.
